Solar powered LED lighting systems are a true marvel of technology. Converting photons of energy from the sun into an electric current and then energizing highly efficient LED lighting sources; these systems offer many advantages over similar utility-based lighting applications.
Product Description
The fixture housing is manufactured of 6” x 6” x .188” wall aluminum; Coverworx promotes this as our Tuff Box, which is vandal resistant and includes at a minimum, battery charge controller, batteries, one cluster of three LED’s and weatherproof, tamper resistant enclosure.
The Tuff Box is specifically designed to make diagnostic repairs and maintenance a snap. All of our solar components are wired with quick disconnect plugs, and attached to a sliding sled. If repair becomes necessary, two tamper proof screws are removed and the sled is pulled out, this will allow the technician to have complete access to all parts. Each component is wired with an individual connection so only one part will need to be replaced. The plugs also keep the maintenance person from cross wiring the unit.
Technical Specifications
Basic system sizing – Operation from dusk to dawn; system output, three days autonomous operation from sunlight. Capable of meeting the performance requirements specified herein over an operating range of 15F to 125F.
Component Specifications
Solar Module – 40 Watt size to meet the system requirements integral to a fixture. One-year warranty on manufacturing defects. The solar module shall be mounted in the center of the Roof Shelter. All attachments to be tamper resistant fittings.
Charge Controller – Full pulse width modulation and temperature compensation. Controller to be capable of operating in 2-hour increments or dusk to dawn if the fixture is refitted for longer operation. The controller shall be protected with a 2-amp in line replaceable fuse.
Battery(s) – Maintenance free, 12 V sealed, valve regulated gel cell and sized to provide three days of sunlight autonomy with a five-year prorated warranty.
Housing – Aluminum .120” thick x 6” x 6” The aluminum sled is formed and welded to hold the controller, batteries, and LED’s.
LED(s) – Nominal 100,000 hours life expectancy. One cluster with three LED’s white at 5,000K color temperature. Minimum 500 lumen output.
Electrical Circuit – Each electrical component will be wired to the next with plastic connectors for ease of field replacement.
